2009 Big Fish & Ol’Blue Contest
Spring 2009 … Hatchopedia.com hosted a contest what would become the talk of Southwest Montana! The concept was simple- catch big fish, win immense amounts of gear. Hatchopedia.com did added a slight twist to the contest & that’s where “Ol’Blue” comes into the picture. Who’s Ol’Blue? Ol’Blue is an 80′s something Volvo stuffed to the roof with gear and prizes. Talk about a “Stimulus Plan”. The contest was a two part deal:
Part one, The Big Fish Contest, prizes where awarded in two categories biggest trout & biggest whitefish.
Part two, raffle tickets where sold for $10 each to get a chance of winning Ol’Blue. As a bonus for the fisherman, any person that submited a fish photo into the Big Fish Contest where automatically given one free raffle ticket for the chance to drive Ol’Blue home.
Winner of Ol’Blue:
Ol’Blue found a new home the night of June 6th at the Pour House in Downtown Bozeman! Nearly 250 people showed up to see who had the lucky ticket. Hatchopedia.com raised over $2,200 dollars that will be donated to the Greater Gallatin Watershed Council. Hatchopedia.com would like to thank all the sponsors and participants for making the contest a big sucess.

The contest is over, and the winners are in! Hatchopedia would like to thank everyone who participated in the Big Fish Contest. It was a close race and some great fish where entered. After receiving additional information & measurement images the board of judges is proud to say the winners of the contest are:
Biggest Trout:
Denver Rathbun landed the biggest trout, a 26″ monster.
Biggest Whitefish:
Nick English took home the honors in the whitefish with this 17″ fish.
Biggest Trout Prize
The biggest trout winner received a new set of William Joseph V-2 Waders. The biggest trout winner also received a rod day on the Nelson Story Lakes valued at over $75 dollars per day. Montana Boat Builders also donated $500 dollars towards the creation of a new drift boat.
Biggest Whitefish Prize
The person that landed the biggest whitefish was rewarded a new William Joseph ZipNo Magnetic Closure Surge Bag.The biggest white fish winner also received a rod day on the Nelson Story Lakes valued at over $75 dollars per day. Montana Boat Builders also donated $500 dollars towards the creation of a new drift boat.
