The Bitterroot River begins at the confluence of the East and West Forks of the Bitterroot near Connor, MT. The river flows through the pristine Bitterroot Valley, one of the fastest growing areas in Montana. Amenities and access sites abound on the Bitterroot River as Highway 93 parallels the river for much of its length. Near Missoula, the Bitterroot River empties into the Clark Fork.

The Root is fishing fantastic with Hoppers right now. Wow, we fished Sunday, Monday and Tuesday with guides on our way to Glacier and the hopper fishing was as good as I have ever found it. This is or 13th trip to Montana for the summer and we finally hit everything just right. Big Fish, Big Hoppers, what a blast.

Took a guide yesterday out of Missoula. He had me and my wife toss san juans with bead head droppers all days. We both landed over a dozen trout and our best fly by far was a two -tone chennelle worms.

Been having lost of heat and rain the past few days which has jumped the flows up. The morning the fishing was still decent. Had to work a bit harder than normal to get many hits. Had most of my action on nymphs, mainly golden stones.
