  1. Brent McGuire Reported:

Best Fly: Rainey's in the tan brown color
Water Conditions: Great shape for August
Weather Conditions: 75 degrees, partly cloudy, breezy
    Floated or Waded: waded
Section of Water Fished: Slough Creek, Lamar and Soda Butte

Slough creek has been fishing solid on Terrestrials and PMD’s. I have found the third meadow to be excellent but the second meadow is not far off. The orange foam beetle has been a killer fly but fish are also gobbling up a small brown Rainey’s hopper especially in the third meadow for some reason. If you are camping, make sure to bring some rusty PMD dries. The evening hatch is wonderful in places. I have also been hitting the Lamar and Soda Butte. SB is good when it is clear but some thunderstorms have been dirtying the water recently. Same thing on the Lamar. Try the small brown Rainey’s all through the park, it has been my go-to-fly.

  2. Rick Hobb Reported:

    Best Fly: #6 hopper
    Water Conditions: Fall like
    Weather Conditions: Cool mornings
    Floated or Waded: waded
    Section of Water Fished: Madison

Mid day around lunch I have been throwing #6 hoppers with a red ant off the back. Has been doing the trick the past few days. Lots of hoppers and ants to be had. Water is getting lower but the fishing is still great.

  3. David Mills Reported:

Best Fly: Small grasshopper & ants
    Water Conditions: Good/low
    Weather Conditions: nice summer weather
    Floated or Waded: floated
Section of Water Fished: Slough Creek

Fish are real spooky up there right now. Good presentation and stealthyness is the key. The past little bit, I have solely thrown small hoppers and anys and the fish have fallen for them. Present your fly well and go small.

  4. Roger Klein Reported:

Best Fly: Light deer hair caddis
    Water Conditions: Normal
    Weather Conditions: Sunny & warm
    Floated or Waded: waded
Section of Water Fished: Gallatin River

Fish have been really hungry on the Gallatin (in the park) the past two days. Lots of caddis, almost all times of the day. Everything from light to dark, big and small. Saw a handful of drakes and pmds as well but did not take the time to switch rigs.
